Ontario MMP: Some potential flaws as I see it
It has been interesting reading in the blogosphere the debate between the Yes and No sides of the Ontario MMP Proposal. The impacts of this referendum on Oct. 10 could very well reverberate across the country (and hopefully get BC-STV passed- which for the record, I do support!). Personally, I'm sort of leaning towards supporting MMP, I have many concerns about the specific type of MMP being proposed. Essentially, the Ontario proposal is 90 local MPPs elected like we always elect them: First-Past-the-Post; but with 39 additional list seats that provide top-up to parties to ensure that each party has a seat count proportional to its share of the popular vote.
